Sketches and Artwork: October

October is always a fun month for artwork because of the many, MANY challenges that circle around. Inktober is the big one, and many other artists will make their own version of this one; a prompt for everyday or every week of the month to inspire. It’s a great way to practice and be part of the community. Linktober, Peachtober, Cutegirltober are a few that I see a lot of (based on who I follow on Insta), but there are many, many more.

One year I will be able to do the complete challenge. This year I got inspired to do different artworks.

October Challenges #

The two above was inspired by Inktober prompt “Sun”. The two below were also Inktober prompts, “Friend” and “Discover”.

Echoes of Wisdom #

Since I didn’t get to play Echoes of Wisdom when it first came out, I played it in October. LOVED IT! It was so cute and so fun to play. I made this artwork of Zelda and Tri before the game came out.

You can see both the digital and traditional art for all the art I made this month. I do most sketching, all line art, and initial coloring in Procreate before printing and painting. I love the ease of fixing lineart and coming up with pallates for my artwork on the iPad. It is much easier than doing it by hand, but I will still sketch in a sketchbook with a pencil.

Halloween #

I did two Halloween inspired artwork this month; Snake Witch and Little Witch. Was very much into witches this year, so I also watched Agatha All Along and got some inspiration for these two.

Coming Up #

I’ve got it in my head now to try and create a short comic, so I’ve been working on character sketches and storyboarding and hoping this will push me to practice backgrounds. I have no idea how long the inspirtation to do this will last – likely I won’t finish anything this year, but hopefully it will be something to work on when I don’t have any other inspiration or projects to work on. It’s a lot more work than I’m used to.

October was fun. Can’t wait to see what comes out of November.
