F.A.Q. #

Do you do commissions? #

Currently, commissions for digital artwork are available. I am not available for paper art commissions at this time.

Can you make (specific content)? #

Information on the type of content I create is listed above.

Do you use (specific material)? #

Please reach out by email or direct message on social media if you want to know the specific materials used in artwork. All materials are professional quality. Here’s a short list of the types of materials I use:

  • Watercolor Paper (140lb)
  • Watercolor paint; basic, iridescent, and metallic
  • Gouache
  • Colored Pencil
  • White Ink pen
  • Liner pens

Do you use AI? #

NO. I do NOT use any AI in the creation of my artwork. My references are either created on my own, or sourced from those who have given permission for their photos and images to be used as a reference. I am against the stealing of artwork from websites/social media to be used to train a program that cannot recreate emotional intelligence or hard-earned skill.

Do you post to social media? #

Yes! You can find me on most social media sites as emis.sketchbook or emisketchbook. Find links on the homepage or here. I post pictures and occasionally short videos of the artistic process, works in progress, finished work, and announcements for print availability. I also go live twice a week on Insta or Tiktok.

Commissions #

Overview #

I create digital artwork specializing in portraits, fantasy art, and character illustrations. Artwork is delivered as a high-resolution digital file (e.g. PNG), suitable for printing or sharing online. Commissions are for personal use only – for example, you can hang the art in your living room or share it online for fun. You may NOT reproduce, re-sell, or use the commissioned artwork to make money for yourself.

Personal use = it’s for your enjoyment; commercial use = using the art on merchandise or for marketing, which is not covered in base pricing. If you need the art for commercial purposes, let me know upfront so we can discuss a special licensing fee. I retain the copyright to the artwork as the creator, but I will always credit you as the client/character owner and I will not sell the image commercially. I do not allow my artwork to be used in NFTs or any blockchain-related projects. (This is a personal policy.)

How it Works #

  • Contact & Idea Reach out to me (via email or a commission form) with a brief description of what you have in mind. Include the basics of the piece you want – for example, “a portrait of my D&D character” or “a fantasy scene with a warrior and a dragon.”

  • Discuss & Scope I’ll respond with a few questions to clarify the scope of the project to be sure we’re on the same page for your artwork. For example: What subject or character would you like me to illustrate? Do you have any reference images or inspiration? What canvas size or resolution do you need? What is your timeline or deadline?

  • Quote & Agreement I’ll give you with a price quote (or price options) and an estimated time to completion. Pricing is based on the level of effort and complexity required. For example; adding extra characters or a detailed background will increase the cost. Once you agree, we’ll move to the next step. I can provide a simple contract or written agreement outlining the commission terms if you need it.

  • Payment See below for more details. For most projects, a 50% upfront payment is required to secure the commission (for artwork $100 or less, I may request full payment upfront). This deposit is usually non-refundable and ensures both parties are committed. Payments will be made via PayPal.

  • Sketch & Feedback I’ll start by creating a rough sketch or composition draft and share it with you for approval. You review the sketch and request changes or adjustments. This is the best time to ask for any big changes (pose, composition, etc.) so that the final artwork turns out just right. Minor tweaks (like small details) are usually okay as we move forward. I’ll keep you updated with 1-2 progress images along the way (if you’d like) so you can see how the art is coming along. This also gives you a chance to confirm we’re still on the right track.

  • Revisions After the initial sketch, additional major revisions will incur an extra fee. These include but not limited to; changing background elements, completely changing character pose, moveing the character or other elements within the composition, adding more than initially agreed on. (Don’t worry, I’ll let you know in advance if a requested change falls outside the agreed scope.) Major revisions add time to the project and will be compensated for. Minor revisions can be made before the finished product. Minor revisions include but not limited to; changing a color, minor pose changes, removing elements, changing sizes. Mistakes on my part will not be counted as a revision. Changes cannot be made after final payment is made.

  • Final & Delivery Once you are happy with the final artwork, final payment will be due. Payment will me made through Paypal. Once paid, I will deliver the final high-resolution image file to you. I’ll provide a PNG (or JPEG) at full size and quality. If you have any specific requirements (a certain file format, a specific size for printing), just let me know and I can accommodate. You will receive the file via email or a download link. For an extra fee, I can print and embellish the artwork to be shipped to you.

You can print the artwork or use it digitally as you wish (remember, for personal use). I may ask if I can share the artwork in my portfolio or social media, with credit to you as the client – but I will NOT do so before you’ve received the final work and given permission. Your satisfaction and privacy are important to me.
